Auto Insurance Tips and Practices
One thing has never changed with any of the automobile systems we've had over the last serveral years, and that is the effect that your accident record has on your insurance costs. It's a simple fact of life that, if you cause an accident or if you recieve traffic tickets, your premiums will rise, so the number one tip is drive safely.
It's important to remeber that, if you lend your car to comeone, you are lending your insurance and your good driving record to that person. If they get in an accident in your vehicle, for which they are at fault, your driving record will suffer.
By having your young drivers listed on your policy, you are providing them with a valuable track record when they are in a position to buy insurance on their own vehicle. These young drivers should consider obtaining their G license as soon as allowed by law. With just a G2 license, their driving record does not advance and future insurance will not be as affordable as it possibly could be.
The type of vehicle you drive determines a lot of the premium you will be charged. Two similar vehicles made by different companies can vary dramatically in premium because of differences in repair costs, safety or theft rates.
Inspections are now required on some vehicles when they are insured and must be completed within ten days at not cost to the insured. This inspection ensures that there is no prior damage to the vehicle and that any customization including expensive stereos, are covered. Incidentally, if you change a stereo in your vehicle, you must let us know to ensure adequate coverage.
Whether driven or not, automobiles must be insured on automobile policies as they are not covered on your proprty policy. ATV's, motocycles, mini-bikes, golf carts, snowmobiles and other such type vehicles are to be insured on automobile policies as they are not considered to be implements of husbandry. There is no coverage on your peoperty for these items. Truck caps muct be specified on your automobile delcaration page to be covered.
Several discounts are now availavle to our policyholders. They include long-term policyholders discount and a discount for having your homeowners insurance with us, as well as a retiree discount and a multi-vehicle discount.
